Disney Adventure - Day 5: Magic Kingdom one last time

So because I am a crazy person and didn’t really think my kids would sleep in during this trip, I planned our last day to be a fun-filled, early starting one. We began with breakfast at Chef Mickey’s in the Contemporary Hotel. As anticipated, all the boys were up and ready to go with time to spare which validated my idea (thanks for that win boys!). We had one last great character meal with Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, Daisy and Donald and rode the monorail to the Magic Kingdom for our last day of fun.

Unfazed by the characters at this point, we will keep eating while they visit our table - that is progress

This is how Pluto signs your autograph book, Chase thought it was hilarious!

Let me emphasize that by this point in the trip, the boys have literally been on planes, trains, buses and monorails. The only thing we hadn’t taken was a boat but it was on the books for later in the day! Since we had already been to the Magic Kingdom one day earlier in the week, I spent some time on our day of rest mapping out the remaining rides and shows that were ‘must see’ on this trip. We made our plan and off we went. (Don’t worry Jason was in agreement with me on making a ‘schedule’ for this day).

We started with a little laughter with some Monsters, Inc. and then a Buzz Lightyear ride and photo op and then Chase and Daddy went to ride the race cars.

During a red flag pause on the track, Daddy switched seats with Chase so he could bring it on home!

From there, the fun continued until the sky turned grey and the light mist set in. You see, we started the day with sunny skies and warm weather and by lunch it had turned cool, grey and drizzly. I had pants and jackets for all of us – in the room at the resort. Now, I admit to being a fair weather fan when I have 4 kids who may get wet and cold and cranky in the world’s most magical place. What did we do? Headed for the buses. We decided to take this time to go back to the resort, maybe have the boys take a nap and check out the weather forecast. If the clouds were moving out, we would put on warmer clothes and head back to the park. Part of that plan worked, the boys napped, but it was on the bus back to the resort and then by the time we go back, they were raring to go! The decision was made that we (the adults) would not survive HOURS in the room so we bundled up and went back to the park. I am so glad we did! While it was a little chilly, the park had cleared out (or was clearing out after the 3:00 pm parade) and we got to ride the rest of the items on our list with little to no wait! We had one last dinner, let Chase and Daddy ride the Runaway Train twice more, watched the parade and then headed home. We saw fireworks through the trees as we waited for the bus and said our good bye to Mickey and friends.

The unexpected benefit from the weather delay – we took that time to pack as much as we could so when we got back to the room it was bath and bed for everyone. We got up the next morning and said good bye to Mater and McQueen and headed for the airport.

Breaking the rules and sitting in Mater for just one last picture!

The flight home was uneventful with Graham and Jack napping while Anthony – who was with me – played in the empty seat next to us. We were home by noon and I was unpacked and laundry done by 3:00 pm ready to get back to life as normal – whatever that means!
